Résultant des conflits qui ont dominé la sphère de l’Europe du Sud-ouest à la fin du 20e siècle, les quatre ans du siège de Sarajevo ont poussé les habitants de la ville à vivre sous le regard des snipers et les éclats des obus. Malgré le danger, les artistes visuels de la ville ont continué leurs activités dans ces nouvelles conditions, continuant à créer pendant toute la période du conflit. Environ deux cents cinquantes expositions ont eu lieu dans la ville assiégée, présentant un mélange d’art local et international de différents styles. Ce projet va étudier la trajectoire temporelle de la sphère culturelle Yougoslave avant, pendant et après la dissolution de l’état socialiste par le prisme de la production artistique de la capitale Bosniaque, traçant l’influence du conflit sur les institutions officielles et semi-officielles comme sur les réseaux personnels. Mobilisant une approche transdisciplinaire et micro-historique pour aborder la question de l’histoire culturelle de la région, ce travail retrace à la fois l’impact du conflit sur les changements sur les pratiques et les évolutions dans la communauté artistique locale et sur les espaces physiques et imaginaires.
